Abstract

15,159. Dornan, J. Oct. 27. Water-tube boilers.-In a boiler having two upper and two lower horizontal drums a, b, c, d, Fig. 1, connected by vertical tubes e and inclined crossing tubes g, a superheater n consisting of a nest of coiled or U-tubes is fitted in the space immediately above the crossing tubes. The superheater may be withdrawn horizontally. Sliding dampers p and pivoted dampers regulate the passage of furnace gases through the superheater. Auxiliary superheaters u, v may be fitted in the spaces at the sides of the crossing water-tubes. The wetsteam headers z, y, Fig. 4, and the dry-steam headers 2, 3 are cast together in the form of a square, and are connected by multiple-bend U-tubes 6.
