Water-tube boilers.-In a boiler having a superheater fitted in one or more gaps formed in the banks of tubes on the side farther from the furnace, the superheating - tubes are arranged parallel to the water-tubes, and the gases traverse the tubes in a transverse direction. U-shaped superheating-tubes b connected to headers c, d are arranged with one limb of each tube in a gap formed on the further side of the bank of water-tubes a. The U-tubes may be inclined so that they project further into the gap at the top than at the bottom. The longitudinal headers form part of boiler casing
