Abstract

U-tube and like superheaters.-The transverse common steam-drum of the boilers described in Specification 28,383/03, is replaced by a drum parallel to, and connected to the middle steam and water drum, and a superheater with two banks of L-shaped tubes is provided. A steamdrum 1 is arranged above and slightly to one side of the middle drum e. The drum 1 is carried on brackets 2 and is connected to the middle drum by tubes 3. A pipe 5 leads steam to the superheater, which is placed as shown in Fig. 1. Two sets of L-shaped tubes are secured at one end to the horizontal boxes 7, 8, and at the other end to vertical boxes 9, 10, which are connected by a pipe 11. As shown in Figs. 1 and 5, one set of tubes 6 is arranged in advance of the other as regards the direction of flow of the furnace gases. A by-pass valve 12 is fitted between the headers 7, 8.
