Water-tube boilers. - The front and rear headers b, d are connected together by a steam and water chamber g with flat and parallel walls arranged horizontally and connected with the headers by curved inner and outer walls 14, 15. A flanged rib 18 strengthens the inner curved wall 15. Smoke-tubes 16 are fitted vertically in the chamber g to lead the gases from the combustion chamber to the stack s. The steam drum p is shown fitted transversely on the top of the boiler and in front of the stack, but it may be fitted longitudinally; or two chambers may be fitted longitudinally, one on each side of the stack. The baffles in the combustion chamber are fitted parallel to the tubes.
