Abstract

Water-tube boilers.-Relates to boilers in which the furnace gases pass through inclined or vertical-tube elements and then through apertures in the walls of the combustion chamber into and through vertical side flues containing vertical - tube elements, and more particularly relates to boilers of the kind described in Specifications 4340/10 and 15,796/11. According to the present invention, additional flues to contain feed-heating elements are provided at the front and back of the side flues. In the boiler shown, additional flues 9, 10 containing feed-heating tubes 13 are arranged at the front and back of the side flues 5 containing vertical boiler tubes 6. The furnace gases pass upwards through the inclined tube elements 2 and enter the side flues 5 through apertures 4. They pass downwards through the side flues and then upwards through the additional flues to the uptake 12. The feed-heating tubes are connected to upper and lower drums 14, 15. In a modification, the lower drums are fitted with partitions and serve as the lower drums of the vertical boiler tubes.
