Water-tube boilers. - Water-tube boilers adapted to be fired by pulverulent fuel of the kind described in Specification 269,036 have at each side of the combustion chamber A a gas pass W bounded by division walls each comprising a skeleton or cage of water circulation tubes F surrounded by brickwork, the lower portions of the division walls being extended by inclined brick walls to form ash hoppers T. Burners V are arranged in the arch V<1> at the front of the combustion chamber or centrally of the boiler and air from air heaters H in the gas passes W is admitted through passages I. The ash hoppers are fitted with water tubes T' between headers T<2> connected by pipes T' with the water space of the transverse drum B'. The tubes T<1> are covered by cast-iron plates T<4>. Further water circulating tubes X may be fitted in the arches of the combustion chamber. The tubes F of the division walls extend between headers F<1> and may be vertical instead of horizontal a$shown. A group C of steam-generating tubes is arranged in the upper part of the combustion chamber and further groups C<1>, C<2>, are located within the gas passes W.
