Abstract

Sectional boilers.-A boiler comprises a single steam chamber and two or more series of internally flued water chambers, each series being separately connected to the steam chamber, and the chambers of a series being so connected to one another that the water flows through each of the chambers in turn. The two series of horizontal cylindrical chambers B, C, and B<1>, C<1> are connected to an internally flued steam drum D, and enclose a flue F, in which is fitted a superheater E. The connexions K between the chambers are of comparatively small diameter, or they are fitted with baffles arranged so as to prevent circulation between the chambers. Each flue is fitted with an oil-fuel burner H. The gases from the flues of the upper chambers are conducted by external flues M into the flues of the lower chambers. Similarly, the gases from the flues of the steam drum are conducted into the central flue F by a flue M<1>. The gases escape through a flue at the top of the boiler casing.
