Fire and smoke tube superheaters.-A superheater for a cylindrical marine or other fire-tube boiler is formed in two parts connected in series, one part having its elements arranged in the boiler fire-tube b and the other parts having its elements arranged in one or more large diameter internal flues c. The steam passes first through the fire-tube elements, and then by way of the connecting pipes h through the flue-tube elements. A boiler having two furnace flues may be fitted with one or two internal flues c on each side of the boiler or with a single internal flue for the reception of the superheating elements. The multiple-bend elements k arranged in the flue-tubes are connected to intermediate steam chests detachably secured to the main steam headers m.
