Abstract
652.832. Water-tube steam boilers. SCHWEIZERISCHE LOKOMOTIV-UND MASCHINENFABRIK. Nov. 1, 1948, No. 28276. Convention date, Nov. 20, 1947. [Class 123(ii)] In a steam boiler the sides and ceiling of which are defined by juxtaposed U- tubes 2, 7 disposed between front and rear refractory walls 3, 13, those tubes 7 extending from the rear partition 4 of the fire-box 1 to said rear wall 13 have intermediate branches 8 and/or 9, Figs. 2 and 3, to provide two pairs of side gas flues 18, 19 leading to a common central outlet flue 22. The tubes 2, 7 communicate with an upper steam-and-water drum 12 through stub-pipes 11 and their lower ends are connected to side water headers 10. In a modification, Fig. 5, branches 8, 8, 21 extend between each U-tube 7 and a cambered tube 23 bridging the headers 10, to provide two pairs of flues 18, 19 leading to an outlet flue 24 below the latter flues.
