Sinuous-tube superheaters; dampers for controlling superheaters.-In a cylindrical marine boiler having one or more return flue tubes d, Figs. 1 and 4, leading into a front smokebox f, and smoke-tubes b connecting the smoke box to the chimney c, superheating tubes g, g<1> are arranged in the return flue tubes and in the smokebox. The steam passes first through the superheater g<1> in the smokebox and then through the superheater g in the return tubes. The passage of the gases through the supperheater g<1> is controlled by dampers h. The legs of the superheater g<1> connected to the outlet header g<3> are placed against the back wall of the smokebox and the distance of the wall from the boiler tubeplate may be adjusted by insertion pieces in the side walls of the smokebox.
