Abstract
420,906. Water-tube steam boilers. WOOLNOUGH, W. H., and SENTINEL WAGGON WORKS, Ltd., 20, Iddesleigh House, Caxton Street, London. June 1, 1933, No. 15900. [Class 123 (ii)] In a boiler of the Yarrow type having a transverse wall 24 separating the furnace chamber 22 from a rear smoke box 25, to which the furnace gases pass around the transverse wall and through a side flue 34, the side wall 30 of boiler is off-set to form a second smoke-box 37 into which the gases flow from the smoke - box 25 through the back portion 16 of the tube bank on one side of the boiler. The bottom of the transverse wall terminates at an arch 28 over an extension 27 of the furnace chamber beneath the smokebox 25, a fire-door 29 being provided in the end wall of the extension. A superheater or feed heater 35 is arranged in the side flue 34. Specification 328,342, [Class 123 (ii)], is referred to.
