[Class 123 (ii).] Multitubular steam boilers heated by exhaust gases from internal-combustion engines, in addition to being fired in furnaces D by means of liquid or pulverized fuel, have vertically spaced banks of tubes B through which the exhaust gases pass, the front ends of the tubes. opening into a chamber C at the boiler front and isolated from the smoke boxes G, and the. rear ends opening into a rear chamber A. Some of the supplemental tubes B may be located in the steam space to dry or superheat the steam.
