Abstract
511,050. Water-tube steam boilers. STIRLING BOILER CO., Ltd. Feb. 11, 1938, No. 4401. Convention date, May 7, 1937. [Class 123 (ii)] In a boiler of the Stirling type with baffles 27, 30 directing the gases longitudinally of the tubes, to prevent large draught losses due to resistances at the turning zones of the gases, the baffles are arranged to provide at each turning zone an unrestricted area 20 through which part of the gases flow before entering the gas pass between the baffles, the other part being allowed to flow into the pass without entering the unrestricted area. The boiler has a front tube bank 12 with relatively widely spaced tubes, and a superheater 23 between the front tube bank and the intermediate tube banks 13, as described in Specification 484,053.
