Abstract

480,536. Steam superheaters ; watertube steam boilers. SUPERHEATER CO., Ltd., and SOUTHCOTT, L. C. Aug. 22, 1936, No. 23134. [Classes 123 (ii) and 123 (iii)] In a looped-tube superheater having elements depending into the gas path of a watertube boiler, to relieve the joints between the elements 2 and their headers 7 of the weight of the elements, the inlet and outlet ends of the elements are provided with adjustable collars 11 which rest upon cross-bars 9 secured to the headers. A damper 14 in a baffle 13 in front of the superheater allows part of the furnace gas to flow directly to the outlet flue 15. In a modification, dampers are provided on both sides of the superheater, the upper fixed portion 18 of the baffle 13 being omitted.
