Abstract
270,102. Marks, E. C. R., (Schmidt'sche Heissdampf-Ges.). June 1, 1926. Dampers for controlling superheaters.-In a boiler having front and rear banks of tubes, 4, 5, Fig. 1 connected to upper and lower drums, superheating tubes 17 connected to headers 16, 18 are placed between the tubes of the rear bank 5, and further superheating tubes 21 connected to headers 20, 22, one of which is connected to one of the headers 16, 18, are placed in a flue through which the furnace gases flow after leaving the boiler. Dampers 28, 29, 31 direct the gases either directly through the flue containing the tubes 21 to the outlet, or wholly or partly through a further flue containing a feed heater B. In a boiler having tubes 5<c>, Fig. 4, connected to front and rear headers, the tubes 17<c> of one part of the superheater is arranged among the boiler tubes and the tubes 21<c> of the other part are arranged in the upper part of the boiler above a baffle 36. A damper 37 controls the passage of the furnace gases over the tubes 21<c>.
