Abstract

426,516. Heating steam boilers by waste gases. TRIGGS, W. W., 57, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.-(Ges. fur La Mont- Kessel und Kraftwirtschaft vorm. Technische Zentrale Dr. Herpen Ges. ; 1B, Schadowstrasse, Berlin) Feb. 8, 1934, No. 4184. [Class 123 (ii)] Water from a storage chamber 7, Fig. 1, is supplied to a waste-heat boiler 6 by a pump 8, through a pipe 10, and steam and water are returned from the boiler to the chamber through a pipe 13. The water in the chamber may be heated by a burner 16. The waste heat boiler 6, Fig. 3, is connected to a steam and water chamber 17 from which steam may be led by a pipe 21 to a fired boiler 7. In a modification, the pump 8 delivers some or all of the water withdrawn from the chamber 17 through the fired boiler. The waste heat boiler consists of coiled or sinuous tubes, sections of which may be put in or out of operation by valves in the water inlet distributer. The flue gases of the fired boiler may be directed into the flue of the waste heat boiler when the engine is not running.
