Divided out of 447,115. [Class 123 (ii)] Internally - h e a t e d steam boilers or water heaters have an annula: water chamber A witl thimbles or loops B extending inwards into a central gas passage C and thimbles or loops D extending outwards into a surrounding annular passage E the central and annular passages having a com mon inlet C<1> and outlet I for the heating gases which may be combustion products or waste heat gases. The boiler may be connected to ar independently fired boiler unit in a forced circulation system and have a circulator coil b leading to the steam space of such boiler. The inner shell A<1> of the water chamber may be unbolted from the outer shell and raised or lowered to permit access to the thimbles. Another embodiment provides a base chamber for fuel burning or receiving waste gases and the outer annular passage is connected therewith and with the outlet flue by external conduits.
