Abstract
392,879. Heating water. L'ORANGE, P., 25, Sattlerstrasse, Stuttgart, Germany. Feb. 23, 1933, No. 5563. [Class 64 (i).] A horizontal water heater a with steam or hot water as the ordinary heating medium has a secondary heating source comprising a gas combustion chamber loutside the heater and a heat exchanger comprising one or more flue pipes k leading through and carried longitudinally within the heater. The pipes k are withdrawable on removal of an endplate d. The heater a is ordinarily heated by steam or water in a jacket g ona shell f or internal pipes s<2>. The gas combustion chamber l arranged at right angles to the axis of the heater has a burner n and automatic gas regulator p. Burnt gases pass through pipes k connected to a detachable endplate d which may carry the gas chamber l and pipes s<2>. The pipes k, s<2> may be carried independently of the plate d either by the shell or by plates detachably connected thereto. The pipes k may have branches and a header. The gas chamber l may be mounted on and extend into the shell f.
