946,413. Heating feedwater and air for combustion. D. B. SPALDING. Jan. 4, 1962 [Jan. 23, 1961], 2629/61. Headings F4A and F4B. [Also in Division F1] Heating of feedwater admitted through a duct 36, Fig. 3, to a steam raising boiler 37, fired by a furnace 38, is effected by a heater coil 16B in heat exchange relationship with a coil 16A, traversed by hot high pressure air discharged through a duct 15 of a pressure exchanger 1, 2 and 3 (see Division F1). The so-cooled air is returned to the exchanger through a duct 17. The exchanger also supplies a hot low-pressure mixture of air and combustion gas to the furnace 38. Air admitted through a duct 41, Fig. 4, to the boiler 37 may also be heated by the coil 16B.
