Abstract

1409872 Heating air by waste gases; heat pipes FOSTER WHEELER JOHN BROWN BOILERS Ltd 11 Sept 1972 [10 June 1971] 27361/71 Headings F4S and F4U A steam boiler incorporates a combustion-air heater in which the air is heated by waste combustion gases, heat exchange being effected by a plurality of heat pipes 7 each extending into the waste gas passage 1 and into the air passage 3. As shown, the heat pipes are provided with fins 11 and they extend through and are sealed in a partition 5 separating the air and gas passages.
