1379454 Boilers H CEVDET OZALTAY 23 Feb 1972 [19 Jan 1972] 8261/72 Heading F4A An oil or gas-fired hot water or steam boiler comprises two main concentric cylinders 1, 2 forming a waterjacket therebetween; a cylinder 3 disposed within the inner cylinder 2 and parallel with the longitudinal axis thereof, the the cylinder 3 containing water and having disposed therein a plurality of flue tubes 4 each provided with baffles 11, Fig. 1 (not shown); two further water-filled cylinders 5 and 5<SP>1</SP> connected to the water jacket and cylinder 3 for water flow therethrough, the cylinders 5 and 5<SP>1</SP> being arranged in parallel with and on opposite sides of and in contact with the cylinder 3 in the upper half of the inner cylinder 2; and a combustion chamber located within the inner cylinder 2 and below the cylinders 3, 5 and 5<SP>1</SP>. Combustion gases pass upwardly through narrow passages 6 defined between the cylinders 5, 5<SP>1</SP> and the inner cylinder 2 into convection spaces 7 wherein the gases are shielded by the cylinders 3, 5 and 5<SP>1</SP> from further heating by the combustion flame. The gases then flow towards the front of the boiler (i.e. out of the paper in Fig. 2) and enter the flue tubes 4, thereby heating the water in the water jacket and the water-filled cylinders. The baffles 11 in the tubes 4 comprise helically-coiled steel bars.
