Abstract

996,551. Hot water boilers. H. VIESSMANN. Jan. 31, 1963 [Feb. 1, 1962], No. 3994/63. Heading F4A. A horizontal cylindrical hot-water boiler with two concentric water jackets 9, 10 spaced apart by an annular chamber 13 and surrounding a cylindrical combustion chamber fired by a burner disposed in an aperture 12, comprises a lower interconnecting passage 7 between the jackets 9, 10, co-axial with the return-flow or cold-water inlet 1 to the outer jacket 9 directly beneath it, with a flared-out lower end 3, and one or more upper passages 5, 6 of at least twice the cross-sectional area of the lower passage and displaced longitudinally in relation to the lower passage 7. The exhaust gases circulate around the inside walls of the inner jacket 10 before passing through the annular chamber 13 to an exhaust duct 14.
