Abstract

1,227,171. Combined gas turbine/steam turbine installation. STEIN INDUSTRIE. March 18, 1968 [March 17, 1967], No. 13041/68. Heading F1Q. In a combined gas turbine/steam turbine installation the combustion air which alone feeds the boiler 5 during off peak operation is arranged to be heated by two heat exchanges 17a, 18a, in series one of which is traversed by exhaust gas from the boiler and the other by steam extracted at the steam turbine. Part of the water of the steam set is arranged to be heated in an exhaust gas/water heat exchanger 11a which is in continuous use whilst the remainder of the water is arranged to be heated in heat exchangers 20-25 traversed by the extracted steam and also in continous use. During peak operation the exhaust gases from the gas turbine 2 are substituted for the air circuit, the heat exchangers 17a 18a being put out of operation. Supplementary power is available at the turbo alternator set 7, 13 owing to the cessation of delivery from the extractors to the air heater 18a. Modified arrangements of the installation are described.
