Abstract

The procedure and means for utilising the sensible heat in coke undergoing dry cooling applies to plant using circulating inert gas passing in succession through a cooling chamber for the coke and a steam-generating heat exchanger system. Before entering this system the circulating gas is passed through a combustion chamber with oxygen-carrying- and fuel-gas supply connections possibly with two burners, pref. one large, one small. Depending on the relationship between circulating-gas temp. at inlet to the steam-generating system and a desired value, chamber output can be increased, decreased or interrupted.
