Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the thermal efficiency of a heat generation type gas producing unit by placing the unit at the temp. rising section of the heating zone of a nonoxidation heat treatment furnace so that it can be heat exchanged for a means of conveying a substance to be treated. CONSTITUTION:Heat generation type unit 4 for producing a gas used in a heat treatment furnace is placed at the temp. rising section of heating zone 11 of the furnace, and combustion chamber 56 packed with gas conversion catalyst 55 is heat insulated with heat shielding plate 57. When heat treatment operation is carried out in the furnace, a gas mixed with combustion air is fed to chamber 56 through piping 53, burned with burner 54, and acceleratedly converted with catalyst 55. This hot converted gas radiates its heat in radiation tube 581, etc. to heat substance 72 to be treated. The gas leaving tube 581 is cooled and dehydrated with heat exchanger 41 and further cooled and dehydrated with refrigerator 22. The resulting gas is then fed to heating zone 11 and cooling zones 121, 122, where it is used as a gas for nonoxidation treatment.
