Classes 64(1) and 64(3) Water in a boiler 1 surrounds an oil- or gas-fired cylindrical combustion chamber 5 and its flues 4 and also surrounds tubes 3 through which air to be heated by the water is blown by a fan 11 from an inlet 13 extending from a casing 8 in which the boiler is located. The fan 11 is controlled by a room thermostat and the heated air passes through an outlet 10 to an opening in the casing 8 for spaceheating in a building, railway train or vehicle. Baffles, Fig. 2 (not shown), in the water-space are arranged laterally at the top of the nest of air-tubes 3 to direct cooler water down at the sides of the boiler 1 which has external welded ribs 2 for strengthening. An asbestos cement pipe 7 conducts the flue gases from a box 6 at which the flues 4 terminate and which has a cleaning-door. The combustion chamber 5 has a glass-windowed door 9 and its burner is controlled by a thermostat in the water. For the water there are side inlets 15 to the boiler and a top outlet 14 from which the hot water may pass to a central heating system controlled by a thermostatic valve and to a draw off supply system which may be of the indirect type and contain a thermostat. The boiler may draw heat from or supply it to an engine cooling system.
