Abstract

1,181,651. Balanced flue air heaters; air heating stoves. UNITED GAS INDUSTRIES Ltd. 6 Feb., 1967 [4 Jan., 1966], No. 373/66. Addition to 1,012,167. Headings F4S and F4W. A gas fired convector space heater 10 is provided with a closed combustion chamber 11 having a burner 17 fed with combustion air from an inlet passage 40 and a double skinned rear wall 31, 32, by a centrifugal fan (29, Fig. 2, not shown). The combustion chamber 11 extends to form primary and secondary heat exchangers 14, 15 respectively from whence the gases exit through a balanced flue assembly 9 of the type disclosed in Specification 1,181,653. The combustion air from the fan, which is mounted to one side of the combustion chamber passes along under a horizontal baffle 33 and then through a number of apertures 34 of varying size to the burner 17 to ensure an even air distribution. Some of this air is used to cool the inside of the combustion chamber walls. An igniter and flame failure device are provided in the combustion chamber. Air to be heated is blown over the heat exchangers 14, 15 from inlet 26 to outlet 27 by a cross flow fan 25. The heater 10 may be thermostatically controlled, either individually, or in combination with further room heaters (not shown). In a modification (not shown) the balanced flue assembly 9 may extend from the side wall of the secondary heat exchanger 15.
