Abstract

1,128,911. Air heaters. OATLEY TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. 20 Jan., 1966 [21 Jan., 1965], No. 2625/66. Heading F4S. A fan 24, located at the bottom of either an inset or free standing radiant convector gas fire, augments the flow of air through an air heater 19 located at, and in contact with, the back of radiants 10 which are heated by a gas burner 11, the air, having been heated, passes through a heat exchanger 36 where it is further heated before passing into the room via grille 34. Combustion products impart heat to the exchanger 36 upon entering outlet ducts 35. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown), a twoway valve (38), comprising a horizontally pivoted director (41), is used to direct the heated air either into the room, via the heat exchanger and outlet grille 34, or into a secondary heat exchanger (39) located between, and employing the heat supplied by, outlet ducts 35, ducting (40) then channelling the hot air from this secondary heat exchanger to an outlet grille located in the same room as, but spaced from, the fire or into another room.
