815,308. Gas stoves; balanced flues. LINDEN, O. G. A. Nov. 14, 1955 [Nov. 13, 1954], No. 32432/55. Class 126 [Also in Groups X and XIII] In a combined heat-radiating and convection stove provided with one or more gas or vapour burners 5 and a combustion chamber with gills or fins 4, 9 on the inner and outer surfaces of its walls, one sidewall of the combustion chamber acts as the heating surface in a convector 8 that heats fresh air flowing into a room under the control of a damper 22, and the opposite side-wall acts as a heat radiator or convector 7 and is provided with doors 14 for regulating the proportion between radiation and convection. The back of the casing 12 and the doors 14 at the front are spaced at the top from a shelf 10 which acts as a hot-plate. The air heated in the convector 8 and the combustion air are both drawn from below the floor. In a balanced flue modification, Fig. 5, the outlet flue pipe 20 and a pipe 29 through which air flows downwardly to the inlet to the combustion chamber have similarly shaped ends 21. Part of this air pipe 29 may surround the flue pipe, to heat the air and insulate the flue pipe from a roof through which it passes.
