Abstract

1354050 Gas-fired convector space heaters CLIMAGAS SA 7 Sept 1972 [29 Aug 1972] 41539/72 Heading F4S A convector space heater comprises a casing containing a heat exchanger 8 consisting of a gas-fired combustion chamber 21 with a main burner 11, pilot burner 19, ignition means 20 and means for controlling gas flow to the combustion chamber; the casing comprising a part 5 to which the heat exchanger unit is attached and consisting of back and side walls of the casing, and a detachable one-piece part 1 (e.g. of anodized aluminium) consisting of front, top and bottom walls of the casing. Operation of the main gas valve is in known manner through the pilot burner and also through a thermostat (not illustrated) responsive to ambient temperature. The convected air enters the casing through openings (not shown) in the bottom wall and heated air is discharged through horizontal slits 17 in the casing front wall. Combustion air enters the combustion chamber 21 via an inlet duct 15 and channels 4, 9. The combustion gases exhaust from the combustion chamber through a smoke box 22, choke 13, a chamber 14 and a duct 3 forming with the air duct 15 a "balanced flue" arrangement. The heat exchanger consists of two rectangular, identical, dished plates connected together face to face to form the combustion chamber and flue the walls of which may be corrugated. A layer 5 of heat insulating material is positioned behind the heater to insulate it from a wall on which it may be mounted.
