Abstract

1330255 Space heaters P KREIS 19 April 1971 [7 April 1970] 26439/71 Heading F4S In a space heater comprising a burner assembly 2 located in a combustion chamber 1 to which is connected a heat exchanger leading downwardly in a tortuous configuration, comprising horizontal sections 5, 10, 11, 12 interconnected by return bends 6, 7, 8, 9, through which the combustion gases from the burner flow, the combustion chamber is formed with outwardly bulging side walls 35 to define a zone of increased cross-sectional area in the region of the burner flames 36. Combustion air is supplied through inlet 14. The heat exchanger is provided with both internal and external fins 40 and 20. The internal fins 40 are arranged to increase in height in the direction of combusition gas flow. Combustion gases leave the heat exchanger through an outlet 15 which may be connected to a chimney pipe. Plates 43 of different aperture cross-section can be removably inserted into the end of the outlet 15 to restrict the combustion gas flow and thereby determine the heat output of the heater.
