[Class 64 (i)] [See also Group XII] A boiler for supply of hot water or steam for domestic heating comprising a sloping grate d to which fuel is supplied by gravity from a hopper e within the boiler structure has a nest of water tubes b extending across the boiler above the grate d and a fan m supplying preheated air under pressure beneath the grate. The air is pre-heated by passage through a tube o surrounding the outlet flue p of the boiler. A thermostat in the boiler or in the room to be heated controls air supply. Secondary air is admitted above the fire bed from the ashpit of the boiler and is controlled by a damper. The boiler has a water jacket a with cross tubes b. The firebars may be formed hollow for the passage of water or steam. Two boilers may be arranged back to back with a common supply of preheated air and a common flue.
