Abstract
429,797. External flues of steam boilers. TANSLEY, G. E., Economizer Works, Calder Vale Road, Wakefield, Yorkshire. March 17, 1934, No. 8461. [Class 123 (ii)] [See also Group XII] The gases from the internal flues B of a Lancashire boiler flow backwards through an external bottom flue C, and then forwards through inner side flues D to a feed - heater H, and through outer side flues E containing smoke tubes F, which heat the air for combustion. Dampers M, N control the entrance of gases to the flues D, E, and dampers P, Q control the entrance and outlet flues of the feed-heater. The gas flow from the flues E to the main outlet flue I is controlled by a damper R, and the gases from the flues D may be passed direct to the main flue by opening dampers in the flue L.
