Abstract
336,505. Babcock & Wilcox, Ltd., (Babcock & Wilcox Co.). Dec. 31, 1929. Water-tube boilers. - In a boiler comprising three transverse drums 1, 2, 6 at different elevations and connected together by banks of tubes 5, 7, 8, a baffle 12 extends from the lowest drum 6 between the tube bank 8 connecting the drum 6 with the intermediate drum 2, a baffle 13 extends across the tube bank 8 from the end of the baffle 12 to the tube bank 5 connecting the intermediate drum to the highest drum 1, and a baffle 14 extends from the drum 1 to the tube bank 8. Further longitudinal baffles consisting of spaced bars 20 may be placed upon the tubes of the banks 8, 5. The upper drums 1, 2 extend outside the setting, and the lower drum 6 is entirely within the setting and is supported by the tube banks 7, 8. The feed inlet pipe, 23 extends downwards to the bottom of the drum 1 and opens behind a plate 24 arranged in front of the downtake tubes 7. A plate 22 serves to separate the steam and water entering the drum 1 from the tubes 5.
