Water-tube boilers.-Boiler plant comprising a furnace wall tube boiler and a convection-heated boiler arranged above it is started up whilst feed is supplied to the steam and water drum 2 of the convection-heated boiler, valved pipes 10, 34, connecting the drum with the wall tube boiler being open so that the wall tube, boiler is flooded. Circulation proceeds upwardly through the wall tubes and through a bank of tubes 25<1> connecting drums 22, 25 at front and rear of the furnace. top, these drums also being connected by return tubes near their ends located outside the furnace. When the working pressure is approached the valves in pipes 10, 34 are closed, and valves in a downcomer pipe 40 from drum 22 and in a pipe 31 connecting the upper portions of drums 22, 2 a.re opened, feed now being supplied to drum 25 in addition to drum 2, the two boilers having different water levels and separate circulations.
