Abstract

316,037. Yarrow, H. E. Aug. 24, 1928. Water-tube boilers.-In a boiler of the Yarrow or like type, the feedwater is heated in a comparatively short bank of tubes F so arranged across the uptake that they are swept by the furnace gases, which flow to the uptake without deflection by baffles in the gas space. The tubes J, K connecting the upper drum D of the feed heater to the water space of the boiler steam drum A and to the boiler water drum B<2> are submerged during normal working of the boiler. The feed may be supplied to the lower drum D' of the feed heater through a pipe opening into a compartment formed by a longitudinal partition P.
