[Class 123 (ii).] A boiler furnace has water wall tubes connecting upper and lower headers, each side wall having lower headers at different levels, each of such headers being connected separately to the circulation system and directly to the other. The furnace of a boiler comprising upper drums 2, 3, 4, connected to a lower drum 5 by water-tube banks 6 has side 'wall tubes 7 connecting an upper header 8 with lower headers 9, 10. Header 10 is sufficiently below header 9 to enable the wall tubes to extend downwardly along the ends of the clinker grinding pit when the furnace is of stoker-fired type. Re-circulating pipes 11, 12 also connect the upper and lower headers and headers 9, 10 are directly connected by a curved pipe 13 long enough to provide flexibility to accommodate expansions. The rear wall tubes 14 connect an upper header 15 and lower header 16 also connected by recirculating pipes 17. Header 8 is connected to the steam space of drum 4 by pipes 22 and header 9 to the water space by a pipe or pipes 18. Header 10 is connected to the mud drum 5 by one or more pipes 19 and also to the water space of drum 4 by one or more pipes 20. Thus make-up is supplied to the wall both from drum 4 and drum 5. In a modification the direct connection between headers 9, 10 enters the side of both headers and a pipe also connects headers 9, 16.
