Abstract
380,015. Water-tube steam boilers. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd. and GREGSON, W., Babcock House, Farringdon Street, London. April 14, 1932, No. 10669. [Class 123 (ii).] Boilers comprising a steam and water drum A and vertically disposed front headers B connected bv a bank or banks of tubes C to inclined rear headers B<1>, have a lower bank of tubes F exposed to radiant heat and connected to horizontal headers or cross boxes G, G<1>, which communicate with the drum to provide a double circulation in parallel. The tubes H, I connecting the cross boxes with the drum are disposed externally of the headers B, B<1>, so as to fill, partially or completely, the spaces between adjacent headers and prevent undue escape of furnace gases. The downtake headers B are connected to a mud drum L. A supplementary or third independent circulation may be provided by water-cooled furnace walls. Specifications 320,683 and 320,684, [both in Class 123 (ii), Steam generators], are referred to.
