Abstract
188,004. Rainey, F. E. April 29, 1921. Water-tube boilers.-A boiler comprises a pair of transverse steam and water drums a, b arranged at different levels and having their steam spaces ccnnected, a pair of lower water drums g, f at the rear and front of the furnace, and an upper water drum j, the steam and water drum a being connected to the water drum j by water-tubes i and to the rear water drum g by downcomers l. The baffles s, o direct the gases in parallel streams through the tubes d, e connecting the drums g, f to the drum b, and then around the drum b and across the tubes i. The water flows from the drum f to the drum j through comparatively large tubes m having constrictions m<1>. The drums f, g are connected by a pipe n fitted with a non-return valve n<1> adapted to open upon excess pressure arising in the rear drum g. The feed-water is first heated in tubes k opening into the drum j. The steam is superheated in tubes p. Specification 114,172 is referred to.
