[Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii)] In a two-stroke engine cylinder, scavenged by crank-case compression through a transfer passage 6, rich mixture is injected by a pump 8 reciprocated by a cam 15 or an eccentric on the crank-shaft. Ports 12. 13 control the supply and delivery of the pump. The fuel may be supplied by a separate carburetter, or to the seat of a non - return valve 22 in the passage 14, which valve is coupled to open with a valve 25 closing the passage ; alternatively, the valve 25 may be omitted and the valve 22 fixed a small distance from its seat.
