Abstract

448,089. Fuel-injection pumps. SOC. ANON. A. SAURER, Arbon, Switzerland. Nov. 19, 1935, No. 32012. Convention date, Oct. 28. [Class 102 (i)] [See also Group XXVII] The pipe 31 connecting the fuel injector and the pump 18 passes through a passage 30 in the cylinder head and has spherical heads 32, 36 on its ends which are pressed on to seats in the injector and pump by screws 40, 42. The head 32 seats in a socket 38 in the injector while, to allow for heat expansion the head 36 has a flattened portion 39 which slides on a flat seat 29 on the pump. The pipe is made so as to be capable of yielding and the passage 30 through which it passes is disposed bencath the actuating gear for the valves 17. Fuel leakage passes through a slot 46 into a gutter 44 common to all the cylinders of a multicyclinder engine.
