Abstract

397,608. Knitting. BERRIDGE & CO., Ltd., I. L., KILBOURN, S. L., and MARTIN, C. S., Sanvey Gate. Leicester. April 30, 1932, No. 12487. [Class 74 (ii).] An elastic thread is fed to the cylinder needles only of a rib machine and is knitted by the cylinder needles while the dial needles are rendered inoperative. The elastic thread may, alternatively, be tucked on the cylinder needles and the tuck loops cleared at the next source with non-elastic thread knitted bv both sets of needles. An adjustable dial cam secured to a plate 58 is moved by a cam disc 50 to render the dial needles 82 inoperative when the thread-guide 13 for the. elastic thread 70 is moved to feeding position. The thread-guides 12, 13 are controlled by a pattern drum 40, and the cam disc 50 is rotated in timed relation with the drum 40. Specification 340,652 is referred to.
