Abstract

984,564. Knitting. MIDLAND HOSIERY MILLS Ltd. May 17, 1961 [May 20,1960], No. 17963/60. Headings D1C and D1K. A superpose cylinder machine has all or selected sliders for the rib needles provided with an additional butt 42 whereby the corresponding needles are withdrawn by a bolt cam 45 prior to the knitting butts 41 engaging the stitch cam 32 whereby the needle latches of those needles are maintained open by the latch guard 34 as they pass through the knitting station and consequently fail to knit at the knitting station. The needles take and knit yarn at the next station after having been cleared by clearing cam 33 whereby tuck stitches are found. The tuck stitches 28 so formed may occur in alternate rib wales 18, 22 in alternate courses thereby providing an openwork fabric suitable for the sole of a sock.
