Abstract

469,998. Knitting. WIDDOWSON, A. H., HOLMES, H. H., and WILDT & CO., Ltd. Jan. 6, 1936, No. 485. [Class 74 (ii)] Change is made in a rib fabric knitted upon a circular machine gradually from one kind of rib to another by the gradual introduction of additional knitted wales. The change may be made by introducing gradually the additional needles of one bed and thereafter introducing the needles of the other bed, or alternately introducing additional needles in the two beds. In changing from 2 x 2 rib work, course 1, the first change may be effected by introducing a short butt cylinder needle at equally spaced intervals in the fifth course, introducing short butt and dial needles at the ninth course, introducing further cylinder needles at the thirteenth course and finally introducing the remaining dial needles at course 18. The introduction of the needles may be asymmetrical.
