Abstract
428,122. Knitted fabrics. MARTIN, C. S., KILBOURN, S. L., and BERRIDGE & CO., Ltd., I. L., Sanvey Gate, Leicester. Nov. 9, 1934, No. 32256. [Class 74 (ii)] The knitted fabric shown, which has the appearance of a 1/1 rib fabric on one face and of a 2/2 fabric on the other face is produced on a circular rib machine by dividing the needles at each course, knitting on cylinder needles only in one course, and knitting on all the dial needles in the next course while alternate cylinder needles tuck and miss, and so on. The even cylinder wales C comprise full stitches combined with tuck-stitches ct, while the odd cylinder wales C<1> comprise full stitches combined with miss-stitch bars 2mc. The dial wales D comprise full stitches combined with miss-stitch bars 1md. The arrangement is such that the wales C tend to be forced out of the plane of the fabric while the dial wales D tend to be drawn together so as partially to conceal the intervening cylinder wale C<1> giving a 2/2 rib effect. Other descriptions of rib may be simulated.
