A circular rotary cylinder machine has the outer wall of the fabric take-down drum 28 flared downwardly. The drum is mounted in a cage 27 attached to a cylinder mounted within the needle cylinder, so that it is caused to rotate with the needle cylinder and enable the fabric to coil up within the drum as it is knitted.
