650,405. Knitting. LEVIN, N. June 14, 1948, No. 15970. Convention date, June 24, 1947. [Class 74 (ii)] A rib or other fabric incorporates individual wrap yarns in alternate or selected wales 9, 10, the wrap yarns 14, 15 being in a plating relationship with each stitch 21 of a body yarn 13 in the wales and in addition forming individual stitches 22 intermediate each plated stitch in the wales. As described the fabric is knitted on a cylinder and dial machine in which a body yarn is fed to the cylinder and dial needles, and individual wrap yarns are fed to the cylinder or selected cylinder needles at one station, after which the yarns are knitted. At a second station the cylinder needles or selected cylinder needles are raised to take only the wrap yarns after which these needles draw loops of the wrap yarns through the loops of the body yarn plated with the wrap yarns. The fabric may be knitted on any other suitable machine. A third station at which only the wrap yarn is again knitted may be embodied in the machine.
