916,991. Knitting and finishing fabrics. FAUN FOUNDATIONS Ltd., and RAYNOR, H. A. July 29, 1960 [June 10, 1959], No. 19812/59. Classes 42 (1) and 74 (2). In producing circular or flat-knitted elastic rib fabrics, an elastic (i.e. rubber-like) thread is knitted only in spaced courses and on the needles producing the face of the fabric, rayon yarn is knitted on all needles, and the back of the fabric is brushed. Elastic thread A is knitted on the cylinder needles only of a circular machine and rayon yarn B on both cylinder and dial needles. The rayon yarn may be knitted with the elastic yarn, as shown. For patterning, a lustre rayon yarn and a non-lustre rayon yarn may be fed at separate feeders, the dial needles taking yarn and knitting at both feeders, whilst selected cylinder needles take and knit yarn at one feeder and the remaining cylinder needles at the other feeder. The elastic thread may be fed in alternate or in more widely spaced courses.
