Abstract

937,376. Knitting. F. W. SELLORS Ltd., and R. V. SELLORS. March 6, 1961 [March 15, 1960], No. 9112/60. Class 74 (2). A narrow knitted margin or tip is folded over to produce double fabric and has its edge secured to the adjoining single fabric welt described in Specification 937,375. The narrow double fabric margin may be knitted on a circular machine equipped with a welt dial and furnished with pairs of right- and left-hand welt forming jacks disposed in line with alternate needles in the cylinder. Alternatively, desired spaced needles are rendered inoperative by passing below the stitch cam so that they do not take yarn and knit. The initial run-on courses are retained by the inoperative needles and after the marginal portion has been knitted the inoperative needles are restored into action.
