Abstract
627,626. Knitting. HEMPHILL CO. Feb. 4, 1947, No. 3306. Convention date, Feb. 13, 1946. [Class 74 (ii)] To form a diagonal wrap pattern on a circular independent needle machine by periodically retarding a wrap spindle, which rotates in the same direction as the needle cylinder and which feeds the wrap yarn, the wrap yarn is fed to two adjacent needles and then cast off from the leading needle so that the wrap yarn is knitted with a body yarn on the other needle. In a multi-needle wrap pattern the wrap yarn is fed to the selected needles for that course and a needle or needles immediately preceding the selected needles. The needle or needles immediately preceding the selected needles then cast off the wrap yarn and it is knitted with the body yarn on the selected needles only.
